Shasta County’s need for adoption competent mental health professionals is overwhelming. Research shows that children with traumatic experiences of abuse, neglect and abandonment and challenging behavioral and emotional responses are at greater risk of presenting with adjustment problems within their adoptive families. These children’s emotional issues are often complex and beyond graduate school training.

Haley Sadler is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist who specializes in adoption issues and trauma. She is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Trauma Focused CBT, and Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI). She is a Nurturing Parenting Program Facilitator and has completed the National Adoption Competency Mental Health Training and C.A.S.E Training for Adoption Competency (TAC). Additionally she serves as a trainer in the community, providing trainings to both foster and adoptive parents and mental health professionals on childhood trauma, adoption issues and best mental health care practices.
