Mandating Reporting Laws: Updates and Review

This lecture will first review updates for both Adult Protective and Child Protective laws in the State of California for mental health providers. This lecture will review what the definition of abuse and neglect are for both children and adults.
This lecture will provide resources for reporting to both CWS and APS in Shasta County.
Learning Objectives: As a participant, you will have a better understanding of the current CWS and APS reporting laws, how to process with your clients, and where to report and provide resources.
This lecture will finish with group vignettes, and quizzes with rewards for correct answers.

Marguerite (Meg) graduated from Touro University Worldwide with a master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. Additionally, she has a master's degree in Counseling Ministry and a bachelor's degree in Christian Studies from California Baptist University in Riverside, California. With over twenty years of volunteer services, including counseling experience in the church, prison, and in-hospital settings, Marguerite has extensive experience helping clients struggling with anxiety, depression, shame/guilt, dependency, and other problems. Marguerite has over eight years of experience as a social worker with Children's Social Services in Riverside County, California. Because of her experience, she has a unique insight working with those that have experienced childhood trauma, neglect, abuse, addiction, and domestic violence. Additional training includes EMDR as well as Brainspotting. According to research, both modalities have been proven to be highly effective for reducing or eliminating negative emotions and reactions associated with Trauma.*
